Karishma is a cute little village girl… There’s a dim light.
हिंदी अनुवाद
करिश्मा एक प्यारी-सी गाँव की छोटी लड़की है। वह अपने दादा-दादी के साथ ढोलकपुर नामक एक छोटे से गाँव में रहती है। वह अपनी दादी से बहुत प्यार करती है। एक दिन उसकी प्यारी दादी उसे पास के शहर गाज़ीपुर जादू का खेल दिखाने के लिए ले जाती हैं।
(वे दोनों हॉल में प्रवेश करते हैं।)
करिश्मा : वाह! यह हॉल कितना रंग-बिरंगा है।
दादी : हाँ, यह हॉल बहुत बड़ा है और सुंदर चमकीले रंगों से सजाया गया है।
करिश्मा : मैं जादू देखने के लिए बहुत उत्साहित हूँ।
दादी : मैं भी।
करिश्मा : अरे भगवान! उन्होंने लाइट बंद कर दी है। मुझे कुछ दिखाई नहीं दे रहा। चारों ओर अँधेरा है।
दादी : चुप रहो और मंच की ओर देखो। वहाँ हल्की-सी रोशनी है।

करिश्मा : दादी, देखिए! वे कितने सुंदर कपड़े पहने हुए हैं।
दादी : हाँ बेटी।
करिश्मा : बीच में खड़ा वह मोटा आदमी कौन है?
दादी : (उस व्यक्ति की ओर इशारा करते हुए) वह व्यक्ति जिसने नीले रंग की पोशाक पहन रखी है और जिसके हाथ में जादू की छड़ी है।
करिश्मा : जी दादी।
दादी : वह एक जादूगर है। वह जादू के अद्भुत करतब दिखाता है।
(जादूगर दर्शकों को एक खाली जादुई डिब्बा दिखाता है और कुछ जादुई शब्द बोलता है। तभी उस डिब्बे से लाल, गुलाबी, हरे, पीले और नारंगी रंग की साटन की रिबन तथा विभिन्न फूलों की पंखुड़ियाँ निकलने लगती हैं।)
करिश्मा : यह कितना अद्भुत है!
दादी : हाँ, सचमुच।

(जादूगर करिश्मा को मंच पर बुलाता है और उससे दस रुपये का एक सिक्का लेता है। वह अपनी मुट्ठी बंद करके कुछ मंत्र जैसा बोलता है। तभी सिक्का गायब हो जाता है।)
करिश्मा : मेरा सिक्का कहाँ गया?
जादूगर : (हँसते हुए) कौन-सा सिक्का?
करिश्मा : वही जो मैंने आपको दिया था।
जादूगर : नहीं, तुमने मुझे कोई सिक्का नहीं दिया। अपनी जेब में देखो।
