Lesson 3 In the zoo
Last Sunday, the weather was cloudy. Arun along with his younger sister Neha, visited the zoo. As they reached the main gate of the zoo, they saw a huge crowd. Some people were buying entrance tickets while others were relaxing in the shade of the trees. As they entered the zoo.
Neha : I am scared to go inside the zoo. Don’t you think we may be attacked by the animals of the zoo.
Arun : Don’t worry Neha. In the zoo some animals are kept in the cages and some are kept in the area surrounded by the barrier. Look, there are so many animals here.
Neha : Oh Yes, I want to see a giraffe first. Where is the giraffe?
Arun : See, the giraffe is near the fence, it has a long neck.
Neha : Brother, look at the monkeys.Arun : Yes, the monkeys are swinging up and down the trees.
Neha : Oh my God! Look at the tiger.
Arun : It’s on the rock.
Neha : Look brother, the tiger is coming down the rock. It has
stripes on its body. Where is the lion?
Arun : See, the lion is in front of its den. It looks so powerful.
It is sleeping.
Neha : Wow! Look at the peacock.
Arun : It is dancing in the garden.Neha : Look at those yellow birds there.
Arun : Yes, those birds are flying over the trees.
Can you see a baby deer behind the tree? Neha : Oh yes! And look, there is a family of zebras.
Arun : Yes dear, the baby zebra is playing between the mother
zebra and the father zebra. They all have black & white stripes
on their bodies.
They saw other animals too and enjoyed very much. When it
was evening, they came out of the zoo and boarded the bus.
पिछले रविवार, मौसम बादलों से घिरा हुआ था। अरुण, अपनी छोटी बहन नेहा के साथ चिड़ियाघर गया। जब वे चिड़ियाघर के मुख्य द्वार पर पहुँचे, उन्होंने देखा कि वहाँ बहुत भीड़ थी। कुछ लोग प्रवेश टिकट खरीद रहे थे, जबकि कुछ लोग पेड़ों की छाया में आराम कर रहे थे।
जब वे चिड़ियाघर में प्रवेश करते हैं —
नेहा:
मुझे चिड़ियाघर के अंदर जाने से डर लग रहा है। क्या तुम्हें नहीं लगता कि हमें चिड़ियाघर के जानवरों द्वारा हमला किया जा सकता है?
अरुण:
चिंता मत करो नेहा। चिड़ियाघर में कुछ जानवरों को पिंजरे में रखा जाता है और कुछ को घेरे गए स्थान में। देखो, यहाँ कितने सारे जानवर हैं।
नेहा:
ओह हाँ, मैं पहले जिराफ देखना चाहती हूँ। जिराफ कहाँ है?
अरुण:
देखो, जिराफ बाड़े के पास है। इसकी गर्दन बहुत लंबी है।
नेहा:
भइया, बंदरों को देखो!
अरुण:
हाँ, बंदर पेड़ों पर ऊपर-नीचे झूल रहे हैं।
नेहा:
हे भगवान! बाघ को देखो।
अरुण:
वह चट्टान पर है।
नेहा:
देखो भइया, बाघ चट्टान से नीचे आ रहा है। इसके शरीर पर धारियाँ (stripes) हैं। सिंह (lion) कहाँ है?
अरुण:
देखो, सिंह अपने मांद (den) के सामने है। यह बहुत शक्तिशाली लग रहा है। यह सो रहा है।
नेहा:
वाह! मोर को देखो।
अरुण:
वह बग़ीचे में नाच रहा है।
नेहा:
वहाँ उन पीले पक्षियों को देखो।
अरुण:
हाँ, वे पक्षी पेड़ों के ऊपर उड़ रहे हैं। क्या तुम उस पेड़ के पीछे एक हिरण का बच्चा देख सकती हो?
नेहा:
ओह हाँ! और देखो, वहाँ ज़ेब्रा के परिवार को देखो।
अरुण:
हाँ नेहा, ज़ेब्रा का बच्चा माँ और पापा ज़ेब्रा के बीच में खेल रहा है। उनके शरीर पर काली और सफेद धारियाँ हैं।
उन्होंने और भी कई जानवर देखे और बहुत मज़ा किया। शाम होने पर वे चिड़ियाघर से बाहर आ गए और बस में चढ़कर घर लौटे।
