This is the story of a brave soldier named Abdul Hamid.
यह एक बहादुर सैनिक अब्दुल हमीद की कहानी है।
He was a Company Quarter Master Havildar in the Indian Army.
वे भारतीय सेना में कंपनी क्वार्टर मास्टर हवलदार थे।
He was a very brave soldier.

He fought in the 1965 war between India and Pakistan.

Abdul Hamid was born in Dhamupur village of Ghazipur district in Uttar Pradesh on 1st July, 1933 in a Muslim family to Sakina Begum and Mohammad Usman.
अब्दुल हमीद का जन्म 1 जुलाई 1933 को उत्तर प्रदेश के गाज़ीपुर जिले के धामूपुर गाँव में सकीना बेगम और मोहम्मद उस्मान के मुस्लिम परिवार में हुआ।

It was the early morning of 10th September 1965, India was fighting against Pakistan.

A Pakistani regiment of Patton Tanks was marching on the Bhikhiwind–Amritsar Road, in the Khemkaran sector of India.
पाकिस्तानी पैटन टैंकों की एक रेजिमेंट भारत के खेमेंकरन सेक्टर में भिखीविंड-अमृतसर सड़क पर आगे बढ़ रही थी।
It had reached a village named Cheema.
वह चीमा नामक गाँव तक पहुँच चुकी थी।
This village was on the Indo-Pak border.
यह गाँव भारत-पाकिस्तान सीमा पर था।
In this sector, the battle had been going on since September 6.
इस सेक्टर में 6 सितम्बर से युद्ध चल रहा था।
Here, Havildar Abdul Hamid and the other soldier of ‘4 Grenadiers Company’ were waiting to face the Pakistani Army.
यहाँ हवलदार अब्दुल हमीद और ‘4 ग्रेनेडियर्स कंपनी’ के अन्य सैनिक पाकिस्तानी सेना का सामना करने के लिए तैयार थे।
Brave Abdul Hamid was sitting in a jeep.
बहादुर अब्दुल हमीद एक जीप में बैठे थे।
He had a special gun.
उनके पास एक विशेष बंदूक थी।
The Patton Tanks of the Pakistani Army were not very far from him.
पाकिस्तानी सेना के पैटन टैंक उनसे बहुत दूर नहीं थे।
He could hit the tanks with his guns if he wanted to.

The tank caught fire and went up in flames.

All the soldiers of Abdul Hamid’s company were very happy.

Suddenly he saw another tank.

He fired a shot again and it also bursted into flames.

Four more tanks were seen.

The Pakistanis wanted to attack Abdul Hamid’s company and kill him.
पाकिस्तानी अब्दुल हमीद की कंपनी पर हमला करना और उन्हें मारना चाहते थे।
He was their biggest enemy.

They turned the guns of their tanks towards him.

Before they could fire, Abdul Hamid hit the third tank too.

And there it went! It had caught fire.

Flames were rising high up into the sky.

But alas! One shell of the enemy hit his jeep.

The brave hero fell down.
वह बहादुर हीरो नीचे गिर पड़े।
He was deeply wounded yet he did not lose heart.
वे गहरी चोटिल हुए फिर भी हिम्मत नहीं हारी।
He ordered his soldiers, “Move forward and fight on.”
उन्होंने अपने सैनिकों को आदेश दिया, “आगे बढ़ो और लड़ते रहो।”
They obeyed his orders and fought bravely.
उन्होंने उनके आदेश का पालन किया और बहादुरी से लड़े।
Some more tanks of the enemy were destroyed.
दुश्मन के कुछ और टैंक नष्ट कर दिए गए।
The Pakistani soldiers were afraid and fled.
पाकिस्तानी सैनिक डर गए और भाग गए।
This brave soldier of the Indian Army died for his country.
भारतीय सेना का यह बहादुर सैनिक अपने देश के लिए शहीद हो गया।
He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously.
उन्हें मरणोपरांत परम वीर चक्र से सम्मानित किया गया।
He will always be revered and remembered by the people of our country as the bravest hero of 1965 war against Pakistan.
