Siddhartha was born in Kapilvastu.
सिद्धार्थ का जन्म कपिलवस्तु में हुआ था।

His father was King Suddhodhana and his mother was Queen Mahamaya.
उनके पिता राजा शुद्धोधन और माता रानी महामाया थीं।

He lived in a beautiful palace but he was not happy there.
वह एक सुंदर महल में रहते थे, लेकिन वहाँ खुश नहीं थे।

He went to the garden every day and sat there for hours.
वह रोज़ बाग़ में जाते और घंटों वहाँ बैठते।

He saw the beautiful trees, flowers, birds and butterflies there, and enjoyed the songs of the birds.
वहाँ वे सुंदर पेड़, फूल, पक्षी और तितलियाँ देखते और पक्षियों का गीत सुनकर आनंद लेते।

At the age of sixteen he completed his education and married Princess Yashodhara.
सोलह वर्ष की उम्र में उन्होंने अपनी शिक्षा पूरी की और राजकुमारी यशोधरा से विवाह किया।

He was very kind to birds, insects, animals and human beings and loved them all.
वह पक्षियों, कीड़ों, जानवरों और इंसानों के प्रति बहुत दयालु थे और सभी से प्रेम करते थे।

Devadatta was Siddhartha’s cousin. But he was very proud and cruel.
देवदत्त सिद्धार्थ का चचेरा भाई था। लेकिन वह बहुत घमंडी और क्रूर था।

He was not kind to the birds and animals.
वह पक्षियों और जानवरों के प्रति दयालु नहीं था।

🦢 The Swan Incident (हंस की घटना)

One day Siddhartha was walking in the garden with his cousin Devadatta, who had brought his bow and arrows with him.
एक दिन सिद्धार्थ अपने भाई देवदत्त के साथ बाग़ में टहल रहे थे, जिसने अपने साथ धनुष और तीर लाया था।

Suddenly, Devadatta saw a swan flying and shot at it.
अचानक, देवदत्त ने एक उड़ते हुए हंस को देखा और उस पर तीर चला दिया।

His arrow brought the swan down. The swan fell onto the ground.
उसका तीर हंस को लग गया और वह ज़मीन पर गिर पड़ा।

Siddhartha lifted it and took it on his lap. He pulled the arrow out and washed the wound.
सिद्धार्थ ने हंस को उठाया और अपनी गोद में लिया। उन्होंने तीर निकाला और उसके घाव को धोया।

He gave it water to drink.
उन्होंने उसे पानी पिलाया।

⚖️ The Argument (विवाद)

Devadatta came to Siddhartha with the bow and arrows. He saw the swan in Siddhartha’s lap.
देवदत्त सिद्धार्थ के पास धनुष-बाण लेकर आया और उसकी गोद में हंस को देखा।

Devadatta: Give that swan to me. I shot it. It is my swan.
देवदत्त: वह हंस मुझे दे दो। मैंने उसे मारा है, यह मेरा हंस है।

Siddhartha: Fie, fie! You shot this lovely bird. You are really cruel. You should be kind to birds and animals.
सिद्धार्थ: धिक्कार है! तुमने इस सुंदर पक्षी को मारा। तुम वास्तव में क्रूर हो। तुम्हें पक्षियों और जानवरों के प्रति दयालु होना चाहिए।

Devadatta: No, I am not cruel. I am brave. Give me my swan.
देवदत्त: नहीं, मैं क्रूर नहीं हूँ। मैं बहादुर हूँ। मुझे मेरा हंस दो।

Siddhartha: I will not give you this bird. I saved it. It is my swan.
सिद्धार्थ: मैं तुम्हें यह पक्षी नहीं दूँगा। मैंने इसे बचाया है। यह मेरा हंस है।

Devadatta: I am going to the king. He will decide.
देवदत्त: मैं राजा के पास जा रहा हूँ। वही फैसला करेगा।

👑 Judgement by the King (राजा का निर्णय)

Siddhartha also went to the king. The king listened to them and gave his judgement.
सिद्धार्थ भी राजा के पास गए। राजा ने दोनों की बातें सुनीं और निर्णय दिया।

King: Devadatta, it is not your bird as you shot it. It is Siddhartha’s bird as he saved it.
राजा: देवदत्त, यह तुम्हारा पक्षी नहीं है क्योंकि तुमने इसे घायल किया है। यह सिद्धार्थ का पक्षी है क्योंकि उसने इसे बचाया है।

The saviour is always greater than the slayer.
जो बचाता है, वह हमेशा मारने वाले से महान होता है।
