The Little Fir Tree – Hindi Translation

Beginning of the Story

Once a magician was returning home. All of a sudden it began to rain heavily. He looked around for shelter and saw a little fir tree. He ran there and took shelter.

Soon it stopped raining. The magician thanked the tree because it had been kind to him. He decided to reward the tree and told it to ask for four wishes, which he would grant.

The First Wish

The fir tree had needle-like leaves and no birds ever made their nests in it. So it wished to have green leaves like its other friends.

The next morning, its wish was granted. But soon a goat came and ate all the green leaves.

The Second Wish

The fir tree was unhappy and wished for gold leaves. The next morning, it was surprised to see that its leaves had become golden.

But a man came and stole all the gold leaves.

The Third Wish

The fir tree then wished for glass leaves because it thought that people would not steal glass leaves.

At night, the wind blew and all the glass leaves broke.

The Final Wish

The fir tree finally wanted its old needle-like leaves back. It wanted them because goats could not eat them, people could not steal them and the wind could not break them.

When the tree woke up the next morning, its needle-like leaves were back again.
