Lesson 11 The sun and the wind
One day (एक दिन) the sun (सूरज) and the wind (हवा) met on the hilltop (पहाड़ी की चोटी पर). It was a beautiful morning (सुंदर सुबह थी). The sun was shining (सूरज चमक रहा था) in the sky. The cool wind was blowing gently (ठंडी हवा धीरे-धीरे चल रही थी).
A man (एक आदमी) was walking down the road (सड़क पर चल रहा था). He was wearing a coat (उसने कोट पहन रखा था). The sun and the wind started talking (सूरज और हवा आपस में बात करने लगे).
Wind: How are you? (तुम कैसे हो?)
Sun: I am fine, thank you. How are you? (मैं ठीक हूँ, धन्यवाद। तुम कैसे हो?)
Wind: I am okay! Let’s have a bet today. (मैं ठीक हूँ! चलो आज एक शर्त लगाते हैं।)
Do you see that man on the road? (क्या तुम उस आदमी को सड़क पर देख रहे हो?)
Let’s see who can take off his coat. (देखते हैं कौन उसकी कोट उतरवा सकता है।)
Sun: I am ready. Let’s see who is stronger. (मैं तैयार हूँ। देखते हैं कौन ज्यादा ताकतवर है।)
The wind blew with all his might. (हवा पूरी ताकत से चली।)
Man: How strong the wind is today? (आज हवा कितनी तेज है?)
It is blowing my coat away. (यह मेरी कोट उड़ाने वाली है।)
I must hold it tightly around myself. (मुझे इसे कसकर पकड़ना होगा।)
The wind blew harder and harder (हवा और तेज चलने लगी) but was unable to remove the man’s coat.
Wind: Dear sun, I give up. (प्यारे सूरज, मैं हार गया।)
I cannot get his coat off. (मैं उसकी कोट नहीं उतरवा सका।)
Sun: Now let me try. (अब मुझे कोशिश करने दो।)
I will make him feel hotter and hotter. (मैं उसे और गर्मी का एहसास कराऊँगा।)
The sun shone brighter and brighter. (सूरज और तेज चमकने लगा।)
Man: (wiping his face) I must take off my coat. (मुझे अपनी कोट उतारनी पड़ेगी।)
I cannot bear the scorching heat of the sun. (मैं सूरज की झुलसाने वाली गर्मी सह नहीं सकता।)
Sun: Dear wind, I have won. (प्रिय हवा, मैं जीत गया।)
I have made him take off his coat. (मैंने उससे कोट उतरवा दी।)
Wind: Congratulations dear! (बधाई हो प्यारे!)
You are indeed stronger than me. (तुम सच में मुझसे ज्यादा ताकतवर हो।)
Moral (नीति):
Wind represents the outer force (हवा बाहरी शक्ति को दर्शाती है)
Whereas the sun could make the person feel the heat inside. (जबकि सूरज व्यक्ति को भीतर से गर्मी का एहसास कराता है।)
Persuasion is better than force.
(प्रेरणा बल से बेहतर होती है।)
