(A girl was talking to a heap of garbage)… There I mix with soil and turn into manure to grow rich crops for you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
एक लड़की कूड़े के ढेर से बात कर रही थी।
लड़की ने पूछा, “तुम कौन हो? तुमसे बहुत बदबू आ रही है। मैं बीमार पड़ सकती हूँ।”
कूड़े ने उत्तर दिया, “मैं श्रीमान कूड़ा (Mr. Garbage) हूँ। मैं हर जगह पाया जाता हूँ।”
लड़की ने पूछा कि वह किससे बना है।
कूड़े ने बताया कि वह सब्जियों के छिलकों, पुराने कपड़ों, जूतों, बर्तनों, कागज़ों और अन्य बेकार चीज़ों से बनता है जिन्हें लोग फेंक देते हैं।
उसने बताया कि उसका सही स्थान कूड़ेदान (Dustbin) या मिट्टी में खोदा गया गड्ढा है। यदि लोग उसे गड्ढे में डालकर मिट्टी से ढक दें, तो वह मिट्टी में मिलकर खाद (Manure) बन जाता है और खेतों में अच्छी फसल उगाने में मदद करता है।

हिंदी अनुवाद
लड़की ने एक सुंदर वस्तु की ओर इशारा करके पूछा, “वह कौन है?”
कूड़े ने कहा, “वह श्रीमती पॉलीथीन (Mrs. Polythene) हैं।”
लड़की ने कहा कि वह तो बहुत सुंदर दिखती हैं।
कूड़े ने समझाया कि भले ही पॉलीथीन उपयोगी और सुंदर दिखाई देती है, लेकिन यदि कोई जानवर उसे निगल ले, तो उसकी मृत्यु भी हो सकती है।
उसने बताया कि पॉलीथीन प्लास्टिक से बनी होती है और प्लास्टिक कभी भी मिट्टी में नहीं मिलता। यह बहुत लंबे समय तक धरती में पड़ा रहता है और पर्यावरण को नुकसान पहुँचाता है।

लड़की ने पूछा, “यह कितने समय तक मिट्टी में रहता है?”
कूड़े ने उत्तर दिया, “लगभग हमेशा के लिए।”
लड़की ने कहा कि प्लास्टिक से बनी बहुत-सी चीज़ें जैसे खिलौने, डिब्बे, कंप्यूटर, कपड़े और बैग रोज़ इस्तेमाल किए जाते हैं।
कूड़े ने बताया कि प्लास्टिक आसानी से किसी भी आकार में ढाला जा सकता है और जल्दी टूटता भी नहीं है, लेकिन यह पर्यावरण के लिए हानिकारक है।
लड़की ने वादा किया कि वह स्वयं भी पॉलीथीन का उपयोग कम करेगी और अपने परिवार तथा पड़ोसियों को भी इसके नुकसान बताएगी।
कूड़े ने खुशी से कहा कि यदि सभी ऐसा करेंगे, तो हमारी धरती साफ़ और स्वस्थ बन जाएगी।
