4-THE DONKEY AND THE DOG
A washerman had a donkey and a dog.
एक धोबी के पास एक गधा और एक कुत्ता था।
Every morning he used to go to the river to wash clothes.
हर सुबह वह कपड़े धोने के लिए नदी पर जाता था।
The donkey used to carry the load of clothes.
गधा कपड़ों का बोझ उठाया करता था।
He used to live in a shed outside the master’s house
वह मालिक के घर के बाहर एक शेड (छप्पर) में रहता था।
And the dog used to stay inside the house the whole day long.
और कुत्ता पूरे दिन घर के अंदर रहता था।
In the evening the dog used to feel happy to see his master.
शाम को कुत्ता अपने मालिक को देखकर खुश हो जाता था।
He used to lick his master and jump on him.
वह मालिक को चाटता और उस पर कूदता था।
The master used to lift the dog in his arms and take him inside the house.
मालिक कुत्ते को गोद में उठाकर घर के अंदर ले जाता था।
Seeing this, the donkey also wanted to live in the house.
यह देखकर गधा भी घर के अंदर रहने की इच्छा करने लगा।
“May be, if I also jump on him like the dog, he will surely lift me too in his arms,” the donkey thought.
गधा सोचने लगा, “शायद अगर मैं भी कुत्ते की तरह उस पर कूदूँ, तो वह मुझे भी अपनी गोद में उठा लेगा।”
The next evening, the donkey went inside the house.
अगली शाम, गधा घर के अंदर चला गया।
He jumped on his master and began to lick him.
वह अपने मालिक पर कूद पड़ा और उसे चाटने लगा।
The master did not lift the donkey.
मालिक ने गधे को नहीं उठाया।
He took him to the shed.
वह उसे वापस शेड में ले गया।
Patting the donkey, the master said to him:
गधे को थपथपाते हुए मालिक ने कहा:
“You are not like the dog. You are much bigger, so you cannot come inside the house.”
“तुम कुत्ते जैसे नहीं हो। तुम बहुत बड़े हो, इसलिए घर के अंदर नहीं आ सकते।”
The master further added:
मालिक ने आगे कहा:
“You are also heavy and so you must not jump on me. I can lift the dog but I cannot lift you.”
“तुम भारी भी हो, इसलिए तुम मुझ पर नहीं कूद सकते। मैं कुत्ते को उठा सकता हूँ, पर तुम्हें नहीं।”
“But I love you as much as I love the dog. You must understand that you are different.”
“पर मैं तुमसे भी उतना ही प्यार करता हूँ जितना कुत्ते से करता हूँ। तुम्हें यह समझना होगा कि तुम अलग हो।”
💡 Moral (नीति):
We should not try to copy others as each one of us is unique.
हमें दूसरों की नकल नहीं करनी चाहिए क्योंकि हम सभी विशेष (unique) हैं।
