THE KABULIWALLAH
बच्चों,
जीवन में कुछ रिश्ते ऐसे होते हैं जो हमेशा याद रहते हैं। ‘काबुलीवाला’ ऐसी ही एक कहानी है जो आपको दोस्ती और पिता के प्यार की गहराई से परिचित कराएगी। आप देखेंगे कि कैसे एक हंसमुख बच्ची और एक शांत, बूढ़ा काबुलीवाला एक-दूसरे से मिलते हैं और एक अटूट रिश्ता बनाते हैं। यह कहानी हमें सिखाती है कि प्यार और भावनाएँ सीमाओं से परे होती हैं। तैयार हो जाइए इस खूबसूरत सफर के लिए!
Little Mini was five years old and a great chatterbox.
नन्ही मिनी पाँच साल की थी और बहुत बातें करने वाली थी।
She simply could not live without chatting all the time.
वह बिल्कुल भी बिना बातें किए नहीं रह सकती थी।
Her mother was often worried about this non stop talking of Mini, and tried to silence her.
उसकी माँ अक्सर मिनी की इस लगातार बातें करने की आदत से चिंतित रहती और उसे चुप कराने की कोशिश करती।
Her conversation with her father was always very lively.
उसके पिताजी से उसकी बातचीत हमेशा बहुत चंचल और जीवंत होती थी।
One day, Mini burst into her father’s study room.
एक दिन, मिनी अपने पिताजी के अध्ययन कक्ष में दौड़ती हुई पहुँची।
She put her arm around him and said, “What do you think, Father? Bhola says there is an elephant in the clouds who blows water out of its trunk and that is why it rains!”.
उसने अपने पिताजी के गले में बाँह डालते हुए कहा, “आप क्या सोचते हैं पिताजी? भोला कहता है कि बादलों में एक हाथी रहता है जो अपनी सूँड़ से पानी फेंकता है और इसी वजह से बारिश होती है!”
Before her father could reply she ran to the window, “Ae Kabuliwallah! Ae Kabuliwallah!”
पिताजी के जवाब देने से पहले ही वह खिड़की की ओर दौड़ी और बोली, “ऐ कबुलीवाला! ऐ कबुलीवाला!”
Mini called out to the Kabuliwallah but when he looked at her, she was in terror and ran to her father.
मिनी ने कबुलीवाले को पुकारा, लेकिन जब उसने उसकी ओर देखा तो वह डर गई और पिताजी के पास भाग गई।
She had heard that Kabuliwallahs caught children, put them in their sacks and took them away.
उसने सुना था कि कबुलीवाले बच्चों को पकड़कर अपनी बोरियों में डाल लेते हैं और उन्हें ले जाते हैं।
The Kabuliwallah came to Mini’s house and her father made sure that Mini came out and met him.
कबुलीवाला मिनी के घर आया और उसके पिताजी ने सुनिश्चित किया कि मिनी बाहर आए और उससे मिले।
Soon Mini lost her fear of him and it was a joy to watch the big bearded Pathan talking tenderly to the little five-year-old.
जल्द ही मिनी का डर खत्म हो गया और बड़े दाढ़ी वाले पठान को पाँच साल की नन्ही बच्ची से प्यार से बातें करते देखना बहुत सुखद था।
The Kabuliwallah was now a daily visitor to Mini’s house.
कबुलीवाला अब मिनी के घर का रोज़ का मेहमान बन गया।
They would sit and chat for hours and crack jokes with each other.
वे घंटों बैठकर बातें करते और एक-दूसरे से मज़ाक करते।
Once a year, Rehman, for that was the Kabuliwallah’s name, would go back to his own country.
साल में एक बार, रहमान — जो कबुलीवाले का नाम था — अपने देश लौट जाता।
He would first collect all the money that people owed him before he left.
जाने से पहले वह उन लोगों से अपने पैसे वसूल करता जो उसे देने थे।
Although Rehman was busy, he always found time to visit little Mini.
रहमान चाहे कितना भी व्यस्त हो, वह हमेशा नन्ही मिनी से मिलने का समय निकाल लेता।
One day there was a lot of noise in the street.
एक दिन गली में बहुत शोर मचा हुआ था।
Rehman had stabbed a man who owed him money.
रहमान ने उस आदमी को चाकू मार दिया था, जो उसे पैसे देना था।
For this crime he was sent to prison.
इस अपराध के लिए उसे जेल भेज दिया गया।
Time passed and Mini soon forgot her old friend, the Kabuliwallah.
समय बीतता गया और मिनी जल्द ही अपने पुराने दोस्त कबुलीवाले को भूल गई।
She grew up into a very pretty woman.
वह बड़ी होकर बहुत सुंदर युवती बन गई।
Her father made arrangements for Mini’s wedding.
उसके पिताजी ने मिनी की शादी की तैयारियाँ शुरू कीं।
Mini was getting married that night.
उसी रात मिनी की शादी थी।
As the father was busy in the preparations, a man came upto him and saluted respectfully.
जब पिताजी तैयारियों में व्यस्त थे, एक आदमी उनके पास आया और सम्मानपूर्वक सलाम किया।
At first he did not recognise him. Soon he realised, it was old Rehman, the Kabuliwallah.
शुरू में उन्होंने उसे पहचाना नहीं, फिर समझ गए कि यह तो बूढ़ा रहमान, कबुलीवाला है।
Mini’s father told him that the marriage ceremonies are going on and he should come on another day.
मिनी के पिताजी ने कहा कि अभी शादी के कार्यक्रम चल रहे हैं और वह किसी और दिन आए।
He was about to leave when he turned around and said, “May I see the little one , sir?”
वह जाने ही वाला था कि मुड़कर बोला, “क्या मैं नन्ही बिटिया को देख सकता हूँ, हुज़ूर?”
He still thought of Mini as a little girl who came running to him and calling, “Kabuliwallah, O! Kabuliwallah.”
वह अब भी मिनी को उसी नन्ही बच्ची की तरह सोचता था, जो भागकर आती थी और पुकारती थी, “कबुलीवाला, ओ! कबुलीवाला।”
He thought they would talk and laugh as they used to do long ago.
वह सोचता था कि वे वैसे ही बातें और हँसी-मज़ाक करेंगे जैसे पहले करते थे।
Mini’s father told him again that the marriage ceremonies are going on.
मिनी के पिताजी ने फिर कहा कि शादी के कार्यक्रम चल रहे हैं।
The Kabuliwallah then gave him a small packet of dried raisins, nuts and almonds for Mini and said, “Give these to the little one. I too have a little one like her and I think of her and bring you this fruit.”
कबुलीवाले ने तब मिनी के लिए किशमिश, मेवे और बादाम का एक छोटा पैकेट दिया और कहा, “यह नन्ही बिटिया को दे देना। मेरी भी उसके जैसी एक नन्ही बेटी है और मैं उसे याद करके ये फल लाया हूँ।”
Mini’s father could not control his tears. He realised that the poor Kabuliwallah was also a father.
मिनी के पिताजी अपनी आँखों के आँसू नहीं रोक सके। उन्हें एहसास हुआ कि यह गरीब कबुलीवाला भी एक पिता है।
He called Mini, who came out dressed as a bride.
उन्होंने मिनी को बुलाया, जो दुल्हन के कपड़ों में बाहर आई।
The Kabuliwallah was shocked to see that Mini, the little girl he had known had grown into a beautiful woman.
कबुलीवाला यह देखकर हैरान रह गया कि मिनी, जिसे वह नन्ही बच्ची के रूप में जानता था, अब एक सुंदर युवती बन गई है।
He suddenly realised that his own daughter would have grown up too and broke into tears.
उसे अचानक एहसास हुआ कि उसकी अपनी बेटी भी अब बड़ी हो गई होगी और वह फूट-फूटकर रो पड़ा।
Mini’s father took out some money and gave it to Rehman and said, “Go and see your daughter and may you have all the happiness.”
मिनी के पिताजी ने कुछ पैसे निकालकर रहमान को दिए और कहा, “जाओ, अपनी बेटी से मिलो और तुम्हें सारी खुशियाँ मिलें।”
Mini’s father had to cut down the expenses of the wedding.
मिनी के पिताजी को शादी का खर्च कम करना पड़ा।
He could not afford the military band and the electric lights but he was happy that his money had helped a long-lost father meet his only child once again.
वह फौजी बैंड और बिजली की रोशनी का खर्च नहीं उठा सके, लेकिन वह खुश थे कि उनका पैसा एक बिछड़े हुए पिता को अपनी इकलौती संतान से मिलाने में काम आया।
