एक दिन उसके पिता घर लौटे तो वे बहुत कमजोर महसूस कर रहे थे। उन्होंने बताया कि उन्हें एक गंभीर बीमारी है, जिसका इलाज बहुत महँगा है।
उनकी माँ फैक्ट्री में काम करने लगीं और रुबीना अपने पिता की देखभाल के लिए स्कूल जाना छोड़ देती है। इससे वह अपनी पढ़ाई को लेकर बहुत चिंतित रहती है।
