जब खेतों में पानी नहीं होगा तो भोजन का उत्पादन कम होगा और गाँव के लोग शहरों की ओर पलायन करेंगे।
इससे शहरों में भीड़ तथा वायु और जल प्रदूषण बढ़ेगा।

तालाबों और कुओं की सफाई तथा गहराई बढ़ाई जा रही है।
पुराने बाँधों की मरम्मत और नए बाँधों का निर्माण किया जा रहा है ताकि अधिक से अधिक पानी बचाया जा सके।
इससे ट्यूबवेल भी दोबारा भर जाएंगे और पूरे वर्ष पानी उपलब्ध रहेगा।
